The autumn Cup event at the track next door is the Hollywood Casino 400, run on Sunday 27 September in 2026, at the end of a race weekend that also carried the ARCA Menards Series on the Friday and the Craftsman Truck Series on the Saturday. The casino's sports bar is called Turn 2, and the casino describes it as having views of the speedway. Few gaming floors anywhere sit this close to a major racetrack.

How a racetrack ended up with a casino
The northeast gaming zone that the 2007 Kansas Expanded Lottery Act created for Wyandotte County did not go smoothly. The first winner, Kansas Entertainment, withdrew in 2008 citing the economic downturn. When bidding reopened, Penn National joined the Kansas Entertainment application alongside Kansas Speedway itself, and the Racing and Gaming Commission approved the licence in February 2010. After a live-play test on 30 January 2012, the regulator certified the casino, and the doors opened on Friday 3 February 2012. The Tonganoxie Mirror reported a floor of 2,000 electronic machines and 52 tables on opening day; the casino does not publish a current count.
That partnership is why the place feels like part of the speedway campus rather than a standalone resort. It also explains the policy that surprises some first-time visitors: anyone enrolled in either the Kansas or the Missouri voluntary exclusion programme may not enter. Kansas City straddles the state line, and so does the customer base.
Tables and the poker room
The pit is broader than many regional casinos. Hollywood lists blackjack, roulette, craps, crapless craps, baccarat, Mississippi Stud, Ultimate Texas Hold'em, High Card Flush, Face Up Pai Gow and Three Card Poker, plus electronic table games and a High Limit Room. Side jackpots include a Dynamic Blackjack Progressive, a Pai Gow progressive and linked progressives on Mississippi Stud and Ultimate Texas Hold'em.
The live poker room keeps late hours: it opens at 9pm every day and runs to 3am, with extended play until 5am on Fridays and Saturdays. The casino runs a waitlist and posts its 2026 poker room rules on its site.
The sportsbook
The sportsbook is set up for game days: 30 betting kiosks, five betting windows, 15 video poker machines and 30 HDTVs, including a screen 20 feet long. Betting windows open at 9am on weekends, 11am on weekdays, and close at 7pm on Tuesdays and Wednesdays and 10pm on other days. Hours shift with the sports calendar.

Four outlets, all of them inside the 21-and-over building:
- Final Cut, the steakhouse: premium steaks, seafood and chef-driven dishes.
- Marquee Café, an all-day diner with American comfort food and desserts.
- Turn 2 Sports Bar, with views of Kansas Speedway.
- Pit Stop, the quick option: pizza, loaded fries and salads.

Where to stay
There is no hotel at the casino. Hollywood points guests to three partners: a Fairfield by Marriott Inn & Suites, the Margaritaville Hotel Kansas City, and a Comfort Suites a few miles away at Leavenworth Road East and I-435, which offers a Hollywood Casino discount.
Hollywood Casino Kansas City and the rest of the metro
The name causes confusion. Hollywood Casino Kansas City is in Kansas City, Kansas, in Wyandotte County, and it is the only state-owned casino in the metro.
